designed printing plates were designed to add colored patterns and
scenes to the Common Place books. The printing plates made
custom work more affordable to the general public.
Sometime between the 15th and early 21st century the hobby of
creating Common Place books had somewhat faded. The revival of
scrapbooking is largely accredited to a woman by the name of
Marielen Christensen. Marielen designed decorative pages for her
families photo albums and preserved them in clear plastic sheets
inside a three ringed binder.
In 1980 Marielen published her first book, How To Keeping Memories
Alive. The very next year Marielen opened a scrapbook store in
Spanish Fork Utah. Thanks to Marielen, scrapbooking is a thriving
hobby for all to enjoy.
